Didier Drogba has signed a four-year contract as the new head coach of the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.

It is reported that the objectives of the contract include winning the next two Africa Cup of Nations ( 2024 and 2025) and leading Cote d’Ivoire to win the 2026 World Cup.

It’s the first experience for Drogba as a coach after getting the UEFA PRO license.

“It’s a pleasure for me to be back in Africa and starting my coaching career with my country.

“I talked with Yaya Touré to join me as an assistant coach and I’m waiting for his response,” Drogba said.

He went further to say that, “The president of the country Sir Alassane Ouattara wants to see Cote d’Ivoire players holding the 2026 World Cup title.

“I will be expelled from my country definitely and my nationality will be withdrawn from me if I do not achieve this goal “, said Drogba at a press conference.
