Teacher tortures student for eating mango in school premises

The Adamawa State Government and the state Police Command have launched an investigation into the alleged torture of a secondary school student, Jaafar Bashiru, by a teacher at Aliyu Mustafa Academy, Jimeta.

Bashiru’s father, Haman Bashiru, told reporters on Saturday that he had visited the school to confirm his son’s online school fee payment when he saw him being flogged.

The boy reportedly sustained injuries after being punished for eating a mango within the school premises.

Condemning the incident, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Investigation to take over the case.

He urged the public to remain calm, assuring that justice would be served.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajiya Aisha Umar, confirmed receiving a complaint from the victim’s parents.

She stated that the ministry would ensure the matter is thoroughly addressed.
