Former United States President, Donald Trump has hit out at USWNT winger Megan Rapinoe after the team’s elimination from the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday.
The United States women’s national soccer team crashed out of the World Cup after losing to Sweden in the Round of 16 in Melbourne.
They lost to Sweden 5-4 via penalty shoot-out after playing a 0-0 draw.
Rapinoe, Sophia Smith and Kelley O’Hara failed to convert their spot-kicks for England.
Rapinoe was particularly on the receiving end of severe criticism after USA got knocked out of the World Cup.
However, Trump was among those who took the opportunity to hit out at Rapinoe, writing on his Instagram story:
“The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden.
Many of our players were openly hostile to America – No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close. WOKE EQUALS FAILURE. Nice shot Megan (Rapinoe), the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA.”
