The deputy State coordinator for Special Marshals unit, Okoyeozor Emeka Michael has declared that RS5.3 Anambra State Special Marshals are trying their best to safe-guide lives on the roads and Controlling traffic.
Okoyeozor who doubles as a member of unit 5 Onitsha Special Marshals made the declaration in Onitsha during the annual thanksgiving of unit 5 Onitsha Special Marshals which was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Odume Obosi, Idemili North Local Government, Anambra State.
He emphasized that all operatives of Special Marshals in the state are trying, saying that the reason why Onitsha Special Marshals seems to be powering up is that there are more units in the area more than other areas.
“So, all units are trying their best accounting to their numberical strength. Infact, Onitsha under Ogidi unit has been rated more than other areas. We have Onitsha unit, Awka, and Nnewi unit. But, all of them are putting in everything to do their best”
The former State Public Enlightenment Officer (PEO) expressed that Anambra state Special Marshals had been on top of Special Marshals in the whole Nigeria, saying that in the last assessment, Anambra Special Marshals ranked 4th or 5th in terms of discharging duty.
Okoyeozor however appreciated Anambra State sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC), Joyce Alexander who attended their thanksgiving event on invitation for her active in Services, describing her as a wonderful person.
” Our sector Commander is a wonderful person. Very, very friendly. She is a Mother to us indeed. She Carries all of us along. Anything she wants from us, she request on friendly way and we will respond. I must say that her stay in Anambra State has brushed us up a beat little higher than where we were before she was posted in Anambra. So, we are now measuring to the core demand” Said Okoyeozor.
He highlighted the efforts of Special Marshals in preventing road crash mostly in festive period, stating that they visit Churches, Motor parks, Keke parks, attending August Meetings as well as October return where they meet multitude of people and educates them what to do so that road crash should be reduced or averted.
He, therefore expressed that he is delighted that their efforts are yielding fruits, noting that for the past four years, Anambra has not expressed fatal crash as before and Special Marshals have determined to reduce frequent road crash in the State.
Okoyeozor meanwhile, commended the initiatives of Special Marshals in citing Clinic at Nteje along Enugu- Onitsha express way, saying that it is a wonderful project which he said in case of accident, the victims should be first attended in the clinic if completed before taking them to specialist Hospital.
