The Director Anambra State fire service, Engineer Chiketa Chukwudi Emmanuel has attributed carelessness and ignorance to the root causes of fire out break in the society.
He described fire incident occurrence as a great misfortune that consume human life, properties and other essential livelihood or rendering it’s victim seriously devastated.
Speaking with Journalists in Awka, the state capital of Anambra State, Engineer Chiketa asserted that so many people are careless in handling inflammable objects even when they were told what to do and how to go about it.
He further explained that so many People who are still making use of lights or those who have lost their lives and properties through inferior was as a result of ignorance of fire precaution measure.
He enumerated the following as the factors that could contribute to sudden fire out break;
– Indiscriminate bush burning
– Mishandling of candle light
– Smoking cigarettes while sleeping
– ARSON-Intentional setting fire on building, Market, Offices, Secretariat amongst other by angry mob, enemies or thugs.
– Hoarding fuel inside residential building, shops, Offices and around places capable of igniting fire.
– Use of sub-standard wires to connect lights.
– Illegal light connections.
– Contracting quack technician in connecting light amongst other factors.
The fire expert fighter continued saying that fire out break could as well be averted through the followings;
– Always keep fire extinguisher around.
– Rutine checking conditions of wires used in connecting light.
– Always switch off electrical appliances while going out.
– Avoid using one socket box in connecting multiple electrical gadgets
– Avoid hoarding of fuel around any place capable of igniting fire.
– Always be precautious in handing anything patterning lights.
– Always use standard wire in connecting light.
– Discourage Arson
– Contract a qualified electrician while connecting light.
– Pray for God’s protection.
” So, in case of sudden fire out break, I will advise you to do these firstly;
– Summon courage.
– Move to muster point (Assemble one place to ensure that everybody is safe).
– Call fire fighters (Fire Service)
– Then, do the needful as much as you can by using fire extinguisher if available or any other measure within your reach” Chiketa concluded.
