The Kogi Consultative Assembly has called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to apologize to Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the sexual harassment allegations she made against him.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, March 4, the Assembly’s leadership noted that Akpoti-Uduaghan, as a newcomer to the Senate, might not be fully aware of the established rules governing the chamber.
The statement, signed by the Assembly’s convener, Kabiru Mohammed, urged the Kogi senator to take the honorable path and extend an apology to Akpabio.
“After thoroughly reviewing the situation between our dear daughter, mother, wife, and sister, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, and the Senate President, we concluded that she was at fault. As such, we believe it is only right for her to apologize and put an end to this matter as the experienced politician she is,” Mohammed stated.
He further emphasized that instead of shifting blame, Akpoti-Uduaghan should acknowledge that her actions stemmed from a lack of awareness.
“As political stakeholders, we recognize the importance of adhering to rules. It is not in the best interest of someone in her position to disregard the Senate Standing Rules or attempt to implicate others unfairly.
“The Senate President acted within the scope of his constitutional duties, and her public remarks were unwarranted,” Mo
hammed added.
