Anambra Journalist Buries Father In  Grand Style

Anambra State based Journalist, Mrs Ogochukwu Oranu has buried her late father, Mr. Alphonsus Okeckukwu Udume in a grand style.

Mr. Udume died on November 2, 2024 at the age of 86 and was buried on January 31,2025 shortly after requiem Mass held in his compound, Ire village Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government, Anambra State.

Late Udume, who holds diploma in Journalism until his demise voluntarily retired as a teacher, a  devoted Catholic worshipper, and served as secretary general of almost all the organizations he belonged.

Expressing the pain of her father’s death, Mrs Ogochukwu Oranu highlighted that she was shattered by her father’s demise, saying ” It dawned on me that even when I am down spirited, I need to soldier on for my greatest cheer leader is no more. Daddy, I will hold unto your good legacies” She stated.

Mrs Oranu who is a senior staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) described her late father as her flesh and blood, emphasizing that she would not forget all the advices, prayers, sacrifices and word of gratitude from her late father.

She prayed for the happy repose of her father and asked God to grant journey mercy to all and sundry who came to sympathize with her and her siblings.

Similarly, Mrs Ngozi Rachel who described her self as the second daughter to late Udume recalled that her father was a disciplinarian when he was alive adding that he was a prayer warrior.

” My father was my mentor. He trained us in a way that any situation we found ourselves, we would adapt to it. So, he was not a trouble maker. My prayer is that he would met the Saints and stay happily with them” Said Rechel.

The burial ceremony attracted the presence of dignitaries from all walk of life which includes; former Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) Sir Oselloka Offor, virtually all the Staff of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) both Awka and Onitsha station.

Other dignitaries included;  Journalists, In-laws, friends and well-wishers who came to commiserate with Udume’s family.
