Dr Vita Ndu, partners Chinese construction firm for massive road constructions in Ezeagu LGA

In a demonstration of his commitment to delivering on campaign promises, Dr. Vita Ndu, Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, recently hosted Mr. Zhou Chien, South East Regional Project Manager of CGC Nigeria Limited, a leading multinational construction company in Nigeria.

During the meeting, Dr. Ndu highlighted the enduring partnership between Ezeagu Council and CGC Nigeria Limited, dating back to 2012 when the company established its first construction yard in Enugu State at Ugwuakulu, Obelegu Umana, within Ezeagu LGA. Dr. Ndu expressed appreciation for the company’s consistent support and the strong relationship that has developed over time.

Mr. Zhou Chien, expressing congratulations on Dr. Ndu’s recent election, pledged CGC Nigeria Limited’s continued cooperation with his administration.

Following the meeting, Dr. Ndu, Mr. Zhou, and other key stakeholders proceeded to inspect the problematic Ajali section of the Umumba Ndiuno-Aguoba-Umana Ndiagu Road II, currently under construction at no cost to the Council or state government.

Despite pending payments for earlier works, CGC Nigeria Limited has continued road repairs to alleviate the challenges faced by Ndi Ezeagu, as the road section has become a hotspot for kidnappings and criminal activity.

The site engineer, Mr. James Suleiman, reported that the repaired road section would be opened to motorists within 48 hours, following the completion of the stone base layer. He assured that sand filling, stone basing, and asphalting would be completed within a week.

Dr. Vita Ndu praised the quality and pace of the construction work, thanking CGC Nigeria Limited for their dedication and generosity.

This road improvement effort aligns with his administration’s “Future is Green” initiative, focused on enhancing the quality of life in Ezeagu through infrastructure development.

The team also visited the unfinished section of the road at Orie Ezimezu, Umana Ndiagu, where Mr. Zhou pledged that work would commence promptly after the Ajali section is completed.

Dr. Ndu acknowledged the significance of this commitment, noting the road’s role as a vital link, especially to the residence of Rt. Hon. Dr. Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi, who played a crucial role in bringing the company to Enugu State during his tenure as a legislator.

Additionally, the inspection team reviewed the Aguobu Owa to Akama Oghe road, which the state government recently awarded for reconstruction.

Recognizing the road’s importance to Ndi Ezeagu, especially as the holiday season approaches, Dr. Ndu urged CGC Nigeria Limited to provide temporary relief to facilitate smoother travel on the road.

He also committed to engaging with the primary contractor to accelerate roadwork in anticipation of increased Christmas traffic.

This visit follows closely after a similar engagement with a Vietnamese project management expert, underscoring Dr. Vita Ndu’s commitment to transformative leadership in Ezeagu LGA.

With the Umumba Ndiuno-Aguoba-Umana Ndiagu Road expected to be completed within the week, residents and travelers will soon enjoy an alternative route, reducing travel time and enhancing safety and comfort across the region.
