The Chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Hon. Aka Eze Aka, has pledged to revitalize the Obollo-Afor Health Centre as part of his administration’s drive to improve healthcare delivery across the council.
Aka made this commitment during an unannounced inspection of the facility on Tuesday afternoon, aimed at assessing its operations and identifying areas needing urgent attention.
The Chairman was accompanied by Hon. Onyekachi Ugwu and Chief of Staff, Dr. Okwudili Jude.
During the visit, Mrs. Josephine, the caregiver in charge of the centre, conducted a guided tour of the facility, briefing the delegation on key challenges affecting both staff and patients.
Several operational gaps were identified during the inspection, including outdated medical equipment, inadequate staffing, and poor maintenance.
Aka emphasized the need to address these issues promptly, describing primary health centres as critical to the well-being of the community.
“Our health centres are the foundation of rural healthcare. They must be properly equipped and staffed to meet the needs of our people,” Aka said.
Mrs. Josephine expressed her gratitude for the Chairman’s visit, noting that the facility urgently requires medical supplies and staff training to enhance service delivery.
In response, Aka reiterated his administration’s commitment to upgrading the centre to meet modern healthcare standards. “We are determined to restore this facility and ensure it provides the level of care our people deserve. Improving healthcare remains a top priority for this government,” he assured.
The Chairman further stated that a detailed action plan will be developed to guide the revamp efforts, aligning with Governor Peter Mbah’s broader agenda of strengthening rural healthcare services across the state.
