Anambra-based human rights activist, Comrade Osita Obi, has praised Governor Charles Soludo for his significant strides in infrastructural development across the state.
Obi, who led a team of journalists on an inspection tour of various projects within Awka and its surrounding communities, commended Soludo’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises.
During his gubernatorial campaign, Governor Soludo pledged to transform Anambra State into a model of urban and rural development, akin to Dubai and Taiwan.
Since taking office, Soludo has embarked on numerous initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, health, education, water supply, rural electrification, and youth employment.
Residents have lauded the Governor’s efforts, particularly in the rehabilitation of water schemes in multiple communities, the provision of free primary education, the employment of teachers, and the implementation of the “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative. These projects have collectively enhanced the quality of life for many Anambra residents.
The inspection tour included visits to newly completed roads in Ugbenu, Awba-Ofemili, Amansea, and Ebenebe, all constructed by Geld Construction Company.
These roads are expected to last for at least 20 years, according to the contractors. Local residents like Mr. Oreke Chinedu of Awba-Ofemili expressed gratitude, noting that the newly built roads have improved accessibility and increased land value in the area, attracting potential investors.
Chief Ambrose Nweke, another community member, remarked that no previous administration had invested in their community to the extent that Soludo’s has.
He and other residents, such as Victor Maduagwu, voiced their support for Soludo’s re-election, while also calling for additional amenities such as water, healthcare, and electricity.
Other projects inspected during the tour included the construction of the Aroma flyover, renovations at Alex Ekwueme Square, the development of Soludo Fun City, and the construction of a new Government House. Engr. Chidi Paul, overseeing the Alex Ekwueme Square renovation, assured that the project would be completed within ten months.
Dr. Ebuka Nwankwo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, highlighted the transformation of the new Government House area, once a dense forest and hideout for criminals, into a reclaimed and secure government facility.
Speaking after the tour, Comrade Osita Obi, who also serves as the Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, emphasized his role as a private citizen seeking to verify and communicate the true state of development in Anambra.
“I am impressed and overwhelmed by what I have seen,” Obi said. “Governor Soludo is doing a fantastic job. I urge Ndi Anambra to grant him another four-year term to continue and complete the radical transformation underway.”
Obi’s endorsement adds to the growing support for Governor Soludo as he continues to drive Anambra’s development agenda forward.
