BREAKING: Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Is Dead

The Senator representing Anambra South, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, is dead.

He died Saturday morning in a London hospital.

He has been in the United Kingdom since he took seriously ill few weeks ago. The condition became critical in the past 48 hours.

The cause of death is not clear as at Saturday morning.

Ubah was elected Senator in 2019 on the platform of the Young Progressive Party, YPP, and reelected on that platform in 2023.

He defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, earlier this year and has indicated interest in seeking the governorship of Anambra State in next year’s election.

Ubah contested the 2021 Anambra governorship election and came fourth in a contest won by Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

On January 9, Soludo suspended Damian Ezeani, a traditional ruler of the Neni community, for conferring a chieftaincy title on Ubah “without obtaining the permission of the traditional ruler of the recipient’s community, or the ministry of local government, chieftaincy and community affairs”. The governor reinstated the suspended monarch a few days later.
