A renowned South Africa-based cyber security expert, Dr. Charles Awuzie, has expressed delight over the call by Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, for the auditing of the party’s accounts.
This is as a result of the ripples generated by the allegation of financial impropriety against the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure by the now suspended party Treasurer, Oluchi Oparah.
Stating his position on the matter, in a press conference yesterday, Obi called for an external auditing of the parties accounts.
“For the Labour Party issue, we are not going to solve it by saying ‘she say, they say’. We now have an independent person who will tell us which way forward.”
Reacting to Obi’s position, Dr Awuzie said that: “Mr. Peter Obi has again proven me right. He has called for the financial audit of the Labour Party.”
He further said that: “In the heat of the presidential campaign, Dr. Okupe was hit by a scandalous conviction. I immediately called for his resignation. Some Obidients said I was playing into the trap set by the other camp.
“I laughed. They know nothing about POLITICS but they think they do because they have been exposed to the absurdity we call Nigerian politics.
“Again, I called for the investigation of the allegations made against Mr. Abure. Some people said we should ignore it. But Mr. Peter Obi again proved that my support for him was worth it by calling for the financial audit of the Labour Party.”
