The Onitsha based Industrialist and business mogul, Chief Linus Ezenkwu has been bestowed the award of Mayor by the Catholic Community of SS Peter and Paul Parish Nkutaku, East Niger layout, Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State.
It was an epoch-making event which began with Holy Eucharist officiated by the auxiliary bishop of Abuja Archdiocese, Most Rev. Dr. Anslem Umorey alongside other Priests.
Chief Ezenkwu who is the Managing Director of Nkwubuego Steel Company limited received the award alongside other eminent personalities during the celebration of 40th years anniversary of the Parish.
Expressing gratitude to the Parish, Chief Ezenkwu said he was delighted for the honour, affirming that the Parish honoured him Mayor of the Parish.
He disclosed that the honour was as a result of his effort and commitments in promoting the Parish.
” I was honoured as Mayor of the Parish because I am among the promoters of the Parish. I built St. Linus out station for the Parish. So, I will be supporting the Parish once again if they want to do another project. When they wanted to establish out station, I gave them land and built it for them”
He therefore explained that the spirit of giving comes out from the heart, urging other affluent parishioners to understand the imperative of worshipping God and assisting Church.
” I am praying to God to touch the hearts of those who have the resources to use it to serve God. Whatever wealth they acquired was given to them by God almighty. Let them have the spirit of worshipping God through wealth they acquired”
The Omere Ora of Uga in his Christmas message urged parishioners to love one another, give whatever they have to their neighbour in this Christmas season, stressing that such is the basis of Christmas.
He further prayed that God would lead everyone safely to their various destinations in this Christmas season, adding that everybody would as well celebrate Christmas with peace, joy and return back with happiness to witness the year 2024 in good health.
