The Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Onochie Ozoma has restated his commitment to repositioning the area by ensuring that all the potholes are properly covered.
Hon. Ozoma made the disclosure while fielding questions from newsmen during the occasion of Pastoral visit of Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev.Valerian Okeke at St. Mary’s Catholic Church In-land Town Onitsha.
Hon. Ozoma who noted that he was privileged to partake in the blessings of the Archbishop during the visit expounded that his leadership has covered twelve roads of potholes and they are continuing until all the potholes within the Onitsha North Main roads are covered.
“We are not relenting until all potholes in all the roads are properly covered. But, so far we have done twelve roads and we are continuing. Our major target is potholes, not ones that are so deep because the deep ones has to do with bitumen, concrete slabs and other necessary ingredients for constructing roads which should handle by the state”
” We are recovering the whole roads and gutters beginning from Oseokwodu Market, Egetteon junction, Old Market Road to Marine Road, Bright street to Ani Onicha, Ajasa and Emejulu. We are recovering both sides of the roads so that street traders would be discouraged because all these Markets where street traders operate are always congested”
” So, after we recover the roads, we barricade them and drive the traders inside the Market and begin to check mate them so that they don’t come outside where we have barricaded” Said Hon. Ozoma.
He, however, said that he has cordial relationship with the leadership of Markets in the council area, saying that they even have Office at local Government Secretariat which according to him makes their work easier.
The local government boss lauded the Governor of Anambra state, Professor Charles Soludo for his massive transformation in the state, describing him as a visionary leader which he said has came to turn around lives of his people.
” Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR is very intentional about his programs. Being an Economist, he has developed the Economy of other people, our own will not be different. He has a very good package for us” Hon. Ozoma concluded.
