The Court Of Appeal will deliver judgement on the appeal by the candidate of the Labour Party, Chijoke Edeoga, against the judgement of the Tribunal on Friday, November 10, 2023.
The tribunal sitting in Enugu had in a ruling which generated mixed reactions, affirmed Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the duly elected governor of the state.
Edeoga had approached the tribunal to challenge the declaration of Mbah as the winner of the March 18th poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission on the grounds that Mbah was not qualified to stand for the election having forged his National Youth Service Corps, NYSC discharge certificate.
The Labour Party candidate also cited cases of over-voting in Udenu, Nkanu East and Enugu East local government areas. The tribunal in is judgement, dismissed Edeoga’s petition.
Not satisfied with the judgment, Edeoga took the matter to the Appeal Court for further examination.
The appalate court had on Monday reserved judgment on the petition after counsels to both Petitioners and respondents adopted their briefs.
