The Iyiowa Odekpe Landlords Association Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State have elected their leaders who will oversee their welfare for the next four years.T
The election took place at Creative Model Schools field Iyiowa Odekpe, Ogbaru LGA, Anambra State and produced Mr. Sunday Obinze fondly called Ogwuego as Chairman.
Mr. Sunday Obinze polled a total of 141 votes to defeat his opponent, Mr. Manlive Ezenwa who scored 14 votes while Uche Ike polled 123 votes to emerge Vice Chairman.
Other elected executives included; Dr. Nonso Okoli Secretary (unopposed), Chief Ezekwueme Godwin-Assistant Secretry, Sir. Kingsley Uwakwe-Financial Secretry, Mr. Godwin Okolo-Treasurer, Provost 1, Amandi Obasi, Provost, Mrs. Mercy Chidimma Alaekwe and Mr. Fidelis Mmadu Public Relations Officer.
Addressing Iyiowa Odekpe Landlords Association shortly after the election, the electoral committee Chairman, Chief Hycienth Nwakaibeya Idu said that the election was peaceful, free and fare.
He noted that the electoral committees complied with the constitution of the association to conduct the election, stating that nobody was intimidated or denied the right to either vote or be voted for.
He urged the elected officers to lead with fear of God and for the betterment of humanity, even as he thanked his electoral committee members and Board of Trustees (BOT) for their unalloyed support.
Equally speaking, the Chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT) of the association, Chief Ray Nnakwe eulogized landlords association for the level of maturity they displayed during the election.
He also praised the electoral committees for abiding by the constitution of the Association to conduct the election.
He said, ” We are registered Association like other Associations. We have elected people who will manage our affairs.
We are not contesting President-General or planning autonomous community because we are strangers in Iyiowa Odekpe. If anybody wants to contest for PG, let the person go back to his home town and contest” said Nnakwe.
The newly elected Chairman, Mr. Sunday Obinze on behalf of his lieutenants commended the association for finding them worthy to lead.
He expressed gratitude to them and assured them that he would run inclusive administration to enable both tenants and landlords to participate actvely in his leadership.
He appealed to the Community to give him and his executives maximum support, promising to tackle security issues and drainage constructions in the first phase of his leadership as well as make Iyiowa Odekpe liveable.
Meanwhile, efforts made by suspected touts allegedly sponsored by opposition members to disrupt the election was aborted as security agencies dispersed and arrested three of them.
