In his continuation to reach out to less privileged ones in rural communities through Faithspiration foundation, a Catholic Priest of Onitsha Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike reviewed how he built a bungalow to a widow.
Recall that Fr. George Adimike, over the years after his doctorate degree studies at Vatican City Rome began Faithspiration foundation, a platform according to him where he reaches out to the poor and less privileged ones.
In most of his comments, the cleric emphasizes on rendering assistance to those in need and indigent ones if there are available resources, reviewing how he built a bungalow to Mrs. Roseline Ugwuezema who he said he never known for the first time.
However, during this year’s Faithspiration foundation Charity outreach, Fr. George and his group stormed Ogbozalla Opi-Agu in Nsukka LGA, Enugu State, a hometown of Mrs. Roseline Ugwuezema who had been enjoying her four bedroom bungalow built for her by Fr. George Adimike.
The visit was colourful indeed as 87 families who were present received #5,000 each except one family who received #20,000 while the Parish Community received #100,000 respectively.
Other items donated to the Community included; bags of Rice, Assorted carbine Biscuits, cartons of minerals, Breads amongst others.
The visit was also a good opportunity for the group to see the four bedroom apartment built for Mrs. Ugwuezema which had been dedicated by the Bishop of Nsukka diocese, Most Rev. Prof. Godfrey Igwebuike Onah.
Narrating his contact with Mrs. Ugwuezema, Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike explained that he knew her through Sister Caritas and her group called friends of Jesus.
He said, ” This group gathers food stuff on every Christmas and Easter period and shares it to the poorest of the poor. In the WhatsApp status updates of Sister Caritas, I saw a picture of Mrs. Ugwuezema and her grandson holding a small black nylon bag of rice.
According to Fr. George, ” I saw the picture and the old mud house where Mrs. Ugwuezema was standing and I asked the Sister whether the woman lives there, and she told me yes !. I considered it unbefitting for a human being to live in such house let alone a Child of God”
The erudite scholar further said that God gave him inspiration and he talked to himself that it is one of the ways of Ministering to God’s people, and every Child of God deserves to live in the same shelter.
” So, from the inspiration, I said I will build a house for the woman. Truly, God brought me resources from that moment because I put up the information in my WhatsApp status and some people gave me money. I raised closely #2million Naira and my elder brother Lucky Adimike gave me #1.5million Naira and I completed it to #3 million from money people gave me during my father’s burial ceremony and support I received from my family and friends.
The cleric reiterated saying, ” I don’t know the woman for the first time, I just saw her picture in social media and the Holy Spirit ministered to me that every Child of God deserves to live in the same house. To me, it is a way of living my priesthood life. We are spiritual fathers, in other words, we love everybody everywhere without discrimination”
So, wherever a Child of God is lacking, if you are inspired, do something.You might not really help or solve everybody’s problem but it is better to light the candles than to lament about darkness, just if you can light one candle, it is something. So, do something wherever you are to whoever you encounter in the name of God”
He said during the the construction of the house, he visits the area with his Priest friends and lay people, even as he said that his action would inspire some people as he was motivated by his mentor, Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke who had equally built a house for a woman with similar challenging.
” Since after the blessing of the house, I have gone there several times and also contributed in one way or the other for their welfare. Whenever they have challenges, they would let me know and I will do the best I can to help them solve their problems. So, they have been reaching out to me and I also go to the Community”
Fr. George noted that when people are giving money or anything to priests, those things are not kept for their personal use, they know that Priests will use it to do God’s work and reach out to the poor. That is why people are generous to Priests”
He continued saying that, when people show him generosity, he would try as much as possible to touch lives of people who are also in need, stating he would assist not only Ogbozalla Opi-Agu but anywhere he sees those in need.
” So, there are other poor ones in every community. Whenever we see the needy and we have the means, we help out. Therefore, I am not trying to take the Ogbozalla Opi-Agu community as a special project. I will be doing Charity work, otherwise it will become a social work. When God inspired you to do something, move on and do it”
He also explained that he has gone to Ogbozalla Opi twice this year while going to Nsukka Catholic Cathedral, just as he said he equally listened to their challenges and did his best, “Sometimes, they call me on phone and say one thing. That is why when i started Faithspiration foundation outreach program, I remember also that I should reach there and do some palliatives in this economic challenges”
