Kachi James Art Gallery: A dream come true – Kachi Aghasili

Kachi Aghasili, an American-based lawyer and the founder of Kachi James Art Gallery in Enugu, has expressed her fulfillment in bringing her long-held dream to life in the Coal City.

Aghasili, driven by her passion for arts and intellectual property, established the gallery with the aim of showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people and providing a platform for emerging art talents to thrive.

She shared these sentiments during a press conference in Enugu.

When asked about her choice of Enugu as the location for the gallery, Aghasili explained that the state boasts a remarkable blend of arts and history, making it an ideal setting for her venture.

“We want to give emerging artists the opportunity to be seen, heard, and discovered,” she stated. Aghasili emphasized that while existing galleries primarily focus on established names in the industry, her gallery aims to support both emerging and popular artists.

Ugochi Madueke, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Enugu State, expressed the government’s commitment to boosting the tourism sector by fully supporting the establishment of the Kachi James Art Gallery.

Madueke believes that additional galleries will not only attract visitors from across the country but also serve as educational tools and preserve the state’s cultural heritage.

Senator Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, unveiled the gallery and highlighted the significant contributions of the private sector to the development of arts in Nigeria. Ngwu acknowledged the economic growth achieved in various art forms through the immense support of private entities.

The Kachi James Art Gallery stands as a testament to the passion and dedication of Kachi Aghasili, who has brought her dream to fruition.

With its focus on promoting emerging artists and celebrating the cultural heritage of the Igbo people, the gallery is poised to make a lasting impact on the art scene in the South East region.
