Reforms: Tinubu, Wike earn accolades from FCT leaders

Leaders from across Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, have described the current reforms being initiated by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike as phenomenal.

They spoke in a press statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday after their gathering in Abuja.

The group, under the auspices of Indigenous Coalition for Good Governance in FCT, said the achievements of the Tinubu administration just a few months in office were deserving of applause.

The leader of the coalition, and former House of Representatives member, Hon Lazarus Zaka Gaza expressed deep appreciation for the laudable achievements recorded so far by the Tinubu administration.

Gaza said as a son of the soil, he was privy to all the happenings in the FCT, stressing that the current government had taken many bold initiatives geared towards giving the federal capital a pride of place.

He said, “I speak today with a great sense of delight over recent events in my constituency, which is the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“As a full blown son of the soil born, I have been opportune to be globally exposed and have a world view of what government is and its primary responsibility.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sworn in to head the Nigerian Government as President on May 29, 2023, and since that event, he has indeed hit the ground running.”

Gaza, who was once a Director Human Resources Management in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), described Tinubu as “the leader that FCT has been yearning for.”

He added that, “His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, who is exercising the power of the President in the FCT is a clear demonstration of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.

“Let me be categorical, Mr President, FCT people are not just grateful, we are joyfully overwhelmed by this masterstroke to properly position the FCT to enjoy what other states are enjoying by this singular act of creating the FCT Civil Service commission.

“This will go down in history as the single most powerful act to ensure that FCT indigenes and residents fully and properly attain the zenith of their careers.

“This portends that we can now progress to Permanent Secretaries and enjoy the benefits thereof as a people.”

He also lauded the withdrawal of the FCT from the Treasury Single Account, describing it as “a class act that shows the special place Mr President has placed FCT in the grand scheme of things in Nigeria.”

He expressed delight over the women affairs secretariat, which he said demonstrated a special focus on empowering FCT women and giving them a veritable platform to maximise their potential.

He continued, “As a consummate politician who can proudly boast of comradeship with the President in the National Assembly during the botched Third Republic and the first member House of Reps from Abuja 1991-1993), I can emphasise that these achievements of our President has done a lot to tremendously reposition our great party for outstanding victories in coming elections in FCT.

“This is because our people are finally beginning to see and experience the lofty plans Mr President has for them.

“Where I personally credit Mr President with a masterstroke is in the appointment of the Hon Minister of the FCT, His Excellency Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

“With all sense of decorum I make bold to state that Wike is a quintessential round peg in a round hole.

“His antecedents as a former governor of Rivers State and the awesome results he has produced just after a few months as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has more than any other confirmed his status as a phenomenal performer.”

Gaza further commended Wike for the immediate tackling of insecurity in and around FCT, as well as the commencement of rehabilitation of roads within the city metropolis and environs.

He implored all indigenes and residents of the FCT to mobilise more support for the President and the FCT Minister.
