The Nkemuefuna Foundation which has its base at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has embarked on free Medical treatments for cancer patients and others suffering different ailments.
The free Medical Intervention took place yesterday at Neolife-Era Specialist Hospital New Cemetery Onitsha and drew numerous patients who suffered cancer and various ailments.
According to Mr. Ikechukwu Okafor the Media aide to the former Nigeria Aviation Minister, Chief Osita Chidioka, he disclosed that Nkemuefuna Foundation is being sponsored by the former Nigeria Aviation Minister, Chief Osita Chidioka.
He said that Chief Chidioka established the Foundation in the memory of his late Mother, Mrs. Nneka Victoria Chidioka, stating that the Foundation has since May 2023 treated so many women and men in different ailments especially Cancer patients.
He also expounded that the ongoing Medical Intervention outreach exercise is a follow up with the Cancer and awareness screening which they created on May 2023 during the burial ceremony of Chief Chidioka’s Mother, adding that the exercise would spann to St. John De Baptist Catholic Church Odoakpu Onitsha and Charity House Enugu State.
” All these patients you see here today have been screened during our Cancer awareness in May . So, they would merge with the new patients as a follow-up and all of them need further Medical Intervention which included; surgery and other treatments” Said Okafor.
The image maker to Chief Chidioka recalled that they had held the same Medical Intervention, Cancer awareness and screening at Obosi twice and extended it to Ozubulu Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State as well as Onitsha metropolis where he said they expected to meet with about 500 patients.
” The foundation has intention to partner with Neolife-Era Specialist Hospital at least, where they patients would undergo surgery, intensive care and treatment respectively” Okafor concluded.
Speaking with newsmen shortly, the National Screening coordinator for Breast Without Spot ( BWS), Dr. Sola Otutayo testified that 820 women have been treated since Nkemuefuna Foundation was established.
” In May 11, 2023, we attended 220 women who came for breast and cervical cancer screening which was properly sponsored and made available by Chief Osita Chidioka. 50 men were for prostate screening and we as well been able to identify 24 male and female that had surgical intervention, Radiological procedure while some of them have laboratory procedure to do”
She mentioned the following ailments which according to her should be tested and treated among the patients; Cervical cancer screening, Breast cancer screening, prostate screening, cryotherapy, Surgical intervention, ultrasonography, Mammography and X-ray of the spin.
The medical practitioner lauded Chief Chidioka for his magnanimous acts , saying that he is a man who has interest in women at heart, just as she revealed that medical Healthcare is expensive.
She also said that screening a woman for breast and cervical screening costs not less than #15,000 to #20,000 but Chief Chidioka through his Foundation does it free for the women.
Some patients who refused to identify their names commended Chief Osita for using his wealth to save lives and prayed to God to bless him more. They said Nkemuefuna Foundation has improved lives in the society.
