Gunmen have shot dead two Policemen during an attack along Ughelli-Asaba road in Delta State on Sunday.
The hoodlums also set the police patrol van ablaze during the attack.
Commercial drivers and their passengers had to flee into the bush as they ran for their lives.
The incident caused tension in the area as transporters and travelers plying the route were afraid and sought alternative routes.
It is however not clear if the service rifles of the officers attached to the Dragon Patrol team was carted away by the gunmen.
The Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the incident.
He however said he does not have details of the death of the policemen.
