Security Operative Killed By Gunmen In Enugu

A member of the Central Neighborhood Watch in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, Enugu State was on Friday shot dead by gunmen.

The hoodlums numbering over 30 attacked the security operative identified as Onyebu Idoko on his way to work.

The hoodlums had attacked the same group two years ago, leading to the death of two leaders of the security team.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said that the hoodlums operated unchallenged in the area for several hours despite military and Police presence in the area.

He said that the hoodlums numbering over 20 were marching towards the local government headquarters before the neighborhood watch member who was riding on a motorcycle ran into them.

“It was a terrible situation. The shock is too much for me. We saw them marching with guns and ordering people to clear the road until the neighborhood watch member ran into them.

“They ordered the man he was carrying on his motorcycle to come down and leave the arena and shot the man severally. His blood was flowing like water on the road,” he said.
