After Core News Report, Enugu Govt. Moves To Evacuate Waste In Nsukka

Enugu State Government through the State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA), has started immediate evacuation of waste in Nsukka town.

This is coming 48 hours after Core News reported that the indiscriminate dumping of waste in the town was about causing an epidemic in the town.

It was learnt that government has also set up a taskforce to ensure that indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the town is stopped in the town.

Residents were warned to stop dumping refuse on the roads instead of the use of the designated areas and facilities for refuse dumps.

The government said it will deploy waste management taskforce agents in strategic areas which will arrest and prosecute anyone caught dumping refuse unlawfully.

Government also pleaded with residents to identify places where waste management facilities have been adequately provided for them for proper dumping of refuse.
