Residents of Ogbosu in Umulokpa, Ezikolo in Abbi and Nkpologu communities, all in Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu State have received a 300KVA transformer each, to boost power supply in their various communities.
The donation was made on Thursday, barely 48 hours before the March 18 governorship and state Assembly elections.
The donated transformers which were procured and delivered by the council chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Celestine Nnadozie, triggered wild jubilations by the indigenes and residents of the recipient-communities who thronged the scenes of the handover singing and dancing.
The 300KVA transformers were procured to assist some of the communities across the rural areas in the LGA that are being faced with challenges of inadequate or total absence of electricity.
Speaking during the handover of the transformers, Hon. Nnadozie explained that the move was in line with his administration’s rural electrification initiative, while calling on the benefiting communities to take ownership of the transformers provided for them by protecting them against vandalism.
“Having handed the equipment over to the benefitting communities, I expect them to protect it against vandalism”, the council chairman noted.
