Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has warned traditionalists ahead of tomorrow’s governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.
This follows the scheduling of the Oro festival in at least five local governments in the state by traditionalists in the state.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Sanwo-Olu urged the traditional institution to respect the rights of citizens.
He said: “Whilst the state government reiterates the freedom of religion, it also cautions traditional institutions holding these customary rites to ensure the activities do not infringe on the fundamental rights of citizens, who are not of this faith, especially during the elections.”
It added that “anybody planning to foment trouble will have the law to contend with.”
