Twelve political parties under the aegis of Coalition of Registered Political Parties, CRPP Enugu State Chapter on Thursday announced their decision to endorse the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the state, Dr. Peter Mbah.
Leaders of the various political parties who spoke after their meeting at Best Western Hotel, Enugu, directed all members and supporters of their parties to come out en masse on Saturday and cast their vote for the PDP governorship candidate.
Chairman of CRPP Enugu State chapter, Dr Samuel Afam Ani, conveyed the decision of the parties to the PDP governorship candidate, who was represented by the spokesperson of the Peter Mbah campaign organization, Mr. Nana Ogbodo.
Dr. Afam said: “The CRPP upon review of the primary essence of government which is to ensure the security of life and property of the members of the society, resolved that since shortage of the basic needs of man is capable of undermining his dignity, it will be proper to jettison political leanings in the consideration of who will provide the best leadership that can secure the greater good for the greatest number of people in our society.
“The coalition moved by high sense of patriotism, signed a memorandum of understanding in which they pledged to work together with one voice and one accord in order to enthrone a government that will support and enhance the genuine aspirations of Ndi Enugu in accordance with the principles of good governance, rule of law, justice, equity and fairness.
“We are made up of State Chairmen and candidates of 12 out of the Eighteen (18) registered political parties that are recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and participating in the 2023 General Election in Nigeria.
“The Coalition engaged in rigorous contentious debates and review of the leading candidates running for the Governorship position in Enugu State, considered the immediate and remote yearnings of Ndi Enugu visa viz the various working documents/manifestoes sold out in the course of the campaigns;
“We also considered the alarming rate of unemployment and brain drain among our young people and concluded that DR, PETER NDUBISI MBAH/IFEANYI OSSAI joint ticket will serve the genuine hopes and aspiration of our people, secure lives and property and guarantee a more prosperous future in Enugu State and hereby adopt their candidature.
“It is in view of the above, that CRPP Enugu State is urging our members, supporters and the entire good people of Enugu State to vote for Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah/Ifeanyi Ossai of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Governor and Deputy Governor Enugu State on Saturday, 18th March 2023.”
