Enugu State House of Assembly candidate for Udenu state constituency under the National Rescue Movement (NRM) Hon. Maduka Eze has promised to ensure quality representation his people.
Eze who was speaking in an interview with Core News said he was determined to turnaround the fortunes of his people and bring about positive change.
He said: “I joined this race because I want to make a mark. Our people have been suffering because of selfish leaders who do not care about the feelings of the people. I want that to change.
“I want my people to vote for me because I am qualified. I have the leadership acumen to deliver quality representation. Today, my constituents pay a whole lot of levies whenever they set out for any building projects because the people in power have conspired to milk them dry.
“It is the same with traders who pay huge amounts in taxes to the local government. The elites do not care about the people and that has got to change.
“One of the bills I will sponsor when I get to the state Assembly is to abolish the Enugu State Electoral Commission. Elections into local governments in Enugu State should be done by INEC. This will ensure that the right leaders are elected into office.
“I will also institute a scholarship scheme which will see that indigent students study in the UK and in America. I know how it works and I will bring it to bear.
“I plead with my people to vote for me, not because of any other consideration but based on my character, integrity and commitment to the welfare of the people.”
